They resulted in persecution, pain, and the manipulation of their own memories, which were relegated to the realm of darkness and silence, of the unspeakable and the invisible. Thus, the work becomes a place of resistance, where secrets gain in importance, are turned into words, and finally are revealed. The mechanism of split memory, the appropriation of memories by those, who suffered violence and were passed over, is set in motion to make them audible and visible, to let their voices resound, and to enable us to contact them: to perceive, to explore, to know, and to question our society and our role in it.
